For those who are not familiar with the work of Chris Bracey, you may be interested to know that in the late 70s it was his creations that transformed the streets on Soho.Since those days Bracey has enjoyed a remarkable career which has taken him from his humble beginnings as a sign designer to his work today as an established and respected commercial artist. His designs have made it on to the big screen and small screen, appearing in movies and music videos. And along the way he has acquired many celebrity collectors including Damien Hirst, Jude Law, Kate Moss, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Richard Curtis, Ray Winstone, Tim Burton, and Vivienne Westwood. This year saw his first UK solo exhibition I’ve Looked Up To Heaven And Been Down To Hell, a reflection of his incredible journey and career. The body of work showcased here was a mix of self-produced neon signs and restored salvaged sculptures and props – all referenced pop culture or religious iconic imagery in the vibrant colours and innovative designs Bracey is now known for.
