My secret weapons of winter beautifications

Party season is upon us again so it’s time to bring your glad rags out and get beautified. Unfortunately the winter weather is here too and it doesn’t exactly inspire you to put on your cutest outfits and get dolled up.  Last week’s snow had me walking around looking like a hot mess in tracksuits and a hefty jacket so I thought why bother with make-up and don’t get me started on my hair.

When the weather is cold and harsh your skin can start to look dull and your hair dry and lifeless and let’s face it there’s nothing glamorous about that. I believe that if your face looks flawless, your skin has a healthy glow and your hair is well styled you can look stunning in even the simplest of outfits. With that in mind I am going to share my secret weapons of beautification so that we can all get back to looking and feeling fabulous just in time for all the Christmas and New Years parties.

Jenna Say eyebrow expert

Using wax and if need be make-up Jenna Say gets her clients eye-brows looking fantastic. I met the lovely Jenna a few weeks ago and although I had already had my eyebrows threaded I wasn’t happy with them so she worked her magic with a make-up kit to make them look even better. In my opinion if your eye-brows aren’t neat, defined and shaped to suit your face your look is not complete and trust me Jenna Say will shape your eyebrows to perfection. You can book an appointment with her on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday at the stylish realhair salon in Chelsea.

Forest Secrets iRejuvenate

This two step skin care system consists of a Face Oil and Skin Serum that can be used separately or blended together to suit your skins needs creating the perfect moisturiser (visit for full instructions). I was introduced to these products a little while ago but I only started using them this week but I have already started to notice a difference in the texture of my skin. They are wonderfully light,  smell delightful and give my skin that extra something it needs during the winter  and I am sure they will do the same for you.

Beau Bronz

In the winter there is little sunshine and the gorgeous sun kissed glow I got from being out in the summer sun starts to fade. When I came back from my holiday I considered going on a sun-bed but decided I was just being greedy since I am already black. For those ladies of farer skin who feel naked without a tan I have the solution in the shape of the Beau Bronz self tanning range. Because I am blessed with what I like to call an all year tan I couldn’t try the products myself, I’m still a little disappointed as the results look so natural. One of my good friends is a total tanning addict and no stranger to allure of self tan and I know she would love to get her hands on this kit.

Prive has a luxurious hair care range that is usually only available in specialist salons but I was lucky enough to get my hands on a few products. I have become addicted to the shine serum, a hair styling product that feels like liquid silk, it brings my hair back to life and gives it a beautiful healthy looking shine. The range is suitable for all hair types and I love that all the products are made from natural ingredients and each have a gorgeous scent.

  1. Hi Hannah, your email popped in just while I was working on my FBFF post and saying how ‘low maintenance’ I am with beauty products! And I was just reading your post and admiring how well you write and also how beautifully you’ve designed your blog. I LOVE having a black background and those hot colours – orange and hot pink and that particular pale yellow (more like pale sand) – reminds me so much of Spain!

My beauty secret is really cheap: I found a GREAT natural shea butter skin care company online – in Kansas! – that I order from, and put in nice glass jars as their packaging isn’t great. They’re in great scenes like French vanilla pear, or lavender, or wonderful florals. I actually use a night cream that’s meant for your body:

and for day cream, on my face I use this face/body cream:

Because it’s all natural, the scents don’t hurt your skin, and it’s such a rush to put it on my face. Pink grapefruit, or honeysuckle, or this time of year, brown sugar spice feels like eating freshly baked cakes.

I’ll definitely retweet and follow you but save the prizes for a more worthy winner – it would be wasted on little ole me!

    • Hi Jill

Thank you so much, I enjoy reading your blog and I am in awe of your photography so compliments from you mean a lot.

I love shea butter products but I have sensitive skin so I am always a little worried about using scented products on my face. I am always happy when I find a new product that has a wonderful fragrance and is made of natural ingredients so I will definately be checking this range out. The brown sugar spice sounds lovely, it would nice to get some of the pleasure of eating freshly baked cakes with none of the calories lol

  2. I’d have to agree with your assessment that the best go-to item is a pair of super high heels. They make any outfit standout. – Katy

  3. I think people wear make up for the sake of it sometimes.I only wear make up when i need too as i believe in letting my skin breathe and be as nature intended it too be,people should try it once in a while and i bet their skin would thank them for it.
Am following you now on here and on twitter.
