MAD mentors is a charity that aims to connect disadvantaged young people between the ages of 16- 25 with industry professionals in Media, Art and Design. On Friday 9th July at The Sheraton Park Hotel, founder and C E O Maryum Sharif will be holding an event to showcase the talent of these youngsters alongside the dedicated mentors who have taken time to nurture their skills.
I know all too well how difficult it can be to get work and gain experience within the creative industries and like me Maryum Sharif experienced the hardships and frustrations of not being able to find work placements or even useful information and advice from the relevant industry experts. This compelled Maryum to establish a scheme that would provide a mentoring program to offer support and guidance for young people in London from disadvantaged backgrounds who want careers in media, art or design. The scheme has been very successful and is currently working with over 200 mentees across London, who are being provided with opportunities to participate in key industry events such as the prestigious London Fashion Week.
It’s a MAD World’s evening of entertainment has been organised with passion and precision so promises to be unforgettable. This showcase will determine who will be selected for a placement at the highly successful MAD Mentors organization, which will give them the opportunities and the resources to help them achieve their goals. Attendees can expect to see a unique fashion show including a performance from successful artist Shahin Badar who has had three No 1 chart hits with dance giants The Prodigy and much more.
This is an event not to be missed it will be thoroughly enjoyable for all involved not to mentioned an excellent networking opportunity. I think that this kind of program is desperately needed especially at this time of economic crisis that has left companies without the budget to create new roles for young people and graduates. Hannah loves it and I’m sure you will too so come and show your support for this wonderful charity.
